Ellis believes that in order to properly execute a social media marketing campaign, you must adhere to the three Ts: targeting, timing, and trust.
Targeting: You’re better off having 10,000 targeted followers than 100,000 random followers. It’s important to have a clear understanding of who is more likely to purchase your product.
Timing: If you’re pushing out content with the same information at the same time as competitors, your audience could lose interest.
Trust: When building a customer base, it is important to keep in mind that many customers who remain loyal to a company feel as though they are understood, and it is not just another generic marketing scheme. Many brands are finding social media influencers are more effective at selling products than other types of endorsers because they are seen as credible and trustworthy sources by their followers. Also note that marketing or endorsing a product you trust and believe in will always make it easier to sell.
Despite social media being an inexpensive and powerful way to market, challenges still arise. Start-ups and entrepreneurs often find they don’t have enough human resources to carry out a successful, comprehensive campaign, struggle to build an engaged community and are unable to effectively track results.
