During my interviewing class at the University of Wisconsin-La Crosse, I met Aaron Baer. Aaron had come into my class to talk about what to expect when going in for an interview and the dos and don’ts. As a marketing major, I found what he had to say extremely useful and was intrigued by Baer Performance Marketing. After hearing what Aaron had to say about Baer Performance Marketing, I reached out to him for an internship opportunity.
What I Learned
At Baer Performance Marketing, I was able to apply what I learned in college while learning new things as well. While at BPM, I attended meetings and completed a wide variety of tasks, including client and industry research, blog writing, and the development of social media calendars.
I found the blog posts challenged me the most, but BPM helped me improve my writing skills by offering constructive feedback on my work. As the summer went on, I became faster at writing the blog posts because I learned how to get in touch with my creative side.
What I enjoyed the most, though, was writing social media calendars. Social media has always interested me, and I found it enjoyable to work with social media at work. I wrote social media calendars for a wide range of businesses, from trucking companies to charities, giving me a full perspective on the marketing industry. Before working at BPM, I didn’t realize all the work that goes into the content that I see on social media every day. It was eye opening!
Conclusion
As a marketing intern at BPM I am able to take lifelong skills with me that I couldn’t have learned just in college alone. After my summer with BPM, I know 100% that I am interested in the social media aspect of marketing and content marketing. For the last three months, I was able to work with creative individuals who challenged me to be the best I could be. I am leaving my internship confident that I have learned the skills I need to be successful in the marketing industry.
Thank you, Baer Performance Marketing!
