Facebook for Business

Facebook is THE social media network of our time. There is no social media outlet that has allowed countless businesses to find their niche in today’s online arena better than Facebook. However, ask any business nowadays about their take on Facebook, and their tune may have changed a little. Facebook over the past couple of years has moved from allowing businesses to move freely targeting all of their hard-earned followers to requiring advertising dollars be spent to garner the same results. We are here to help you better understand that Facebook is not out to get the small business person. The social media network is here to help.

At a certain point, Facebook realized it was missing the opportunity to make money, and that made businesses upset. We look at it completely differently. We see Facebook as helping the small business target their customers in a more efficient way. Small businesses once had the mentality of just shotgun spraying their followers with random “garbage” posts. Marketing on Facebook now requires some finesse and thought if you want it to work properly. For example, BPM has many tanning salons as clients. One client wants to run a special on “Sunless Tanning” (spray tans). We have the ability to target only those clients who have an interest in sunless tanning.

Some other targeting options include:

  • In-depth demographic info
    • Narrowing an audience down to someone with a 13 year old son, for example
  • Location
    • Cities, a radius around a city, states, etc.
  • Life events
    • When a Facebook user announces they are engaged, graduating, married or having a child

By putting advertising dollars towards your company’s Facebook campaigns, it allows you to take time to actually think about what you would like the campaign to do. Take a second and browse through some of the options in regards to Facebook Ads. Facebook has many different options depending what you would like to do. They have them broken down by some of the following: Boost your posts, promote your page, reach people near your business, raise attendance at an event or even get people to claim an offer you have.

Facebook Campaigns
Our clients always ask, “How much do I need to spend to see results?” Well, that answer varies for the type of business and the type of results you are looking to see. We always tell them to start small and work up to big, ongoing campaigns to see the best results. In some cases, $20 will work perfectly! In other larger campaigns and offers, budgets can get up into the hundreds of dollars and see amazing results.

Our biggest word of advice is to slow down when marketing your business on Facebook and come up with a plan before you hit the “Post” button.
